Press Releases

Angels Edge Professional Copywriting writes and edits news releases, press statements, media releases, and press releases for individuals and organisations that wish to notify the press of newsworthy subject matter.

Tricia Snell of Angels Edge Professional Copywriting has written press releases for authors, not-for-profit organisations, small businesses, and large corporations in order to attract favourable media mention and publicity throughout the client's geographical location.

Angels Edge Professional Copywriting assists clients to find newsworthy content and then endeavours to create an eye-catching media release that the client can then send to respective newspapers and press release distribution services in their region. Due to the large scope of media outlets and services available globally, Angels Edge Professional Copywriting does not distribute media releases on a client's behalf; therefore, distribution remains the sole responsibility of the client.

History of the Press Release

The first press release was created in 1906 by Ivy Lee who is now considered as the 'father of modern PR.’

The newsworthy incident that Lee reported occurred on October 28, 1906 when a three-car train jumped a trestle, killing 50 people in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Lee's statement was not only published - verbatim - on October 30, 1906, but he also managed to persuade the railroad to release a public statement and transport reports to the accident site.

Press Release Facts

Today, the press release is sent electronically to publications worldwide in order to notify them of events that may be perceived as newsworthy. Typically, if a newspaper is interested in finding out more about the topic represented in the press release, they will then contact the person listed in the statement. From here, a reporter will arrange an interview time for themselves and a photographer to meet with the party that they are interested in publishing an article on so that they can gather unique story material.

A press release is an excellent way for individuals and businesses to draw media attention that they may not have otherwise attracted and generate 'free' publicity.
